Home Again And Sweet Videos

After spending twelve days with a friend and receiving help with my basic needs subsequent to my leg injury, I have returned home to see if I can get along on my own. I am so very grateful for all the help I have received. It is so good to be home but I can't deny it, this is tough. Of course my beloved dog, Lily is by my side wherever I am in the house.

This morning I saw a video on the Internet that lifted my spirits and brought me some joy and a reminder of how wonderful it is to have fury friends that love us more than we can imagine. This is the video - Teaching puppy to go down stairs. Be sure to view it in full screen.

Thank you to the video owners for fun and uplifting videos.

The is a link to my favorite doggy video. I could not direct link it to my blog. So, click the blue link.

Wasn't that fun? I love, love, love my Lily so very much. She is so aware of my current situation and is no longer afraid of my knee scooter. Of course, I am very careful about her and my safety.

Hoping your weekend is Splendid.

I Have A Sick Doggie

And, it worries me. Lily is "my everything". She didn't want to get our of bed this morning. I went in to talk with her frequently and she did not want to move. At 11 AM I picked her up and she was very lethargic and gave a little whimper and was quivering a little bit. I checked her hips and legs for pain issues and everything checked out OK. I took her outside and she "piddled" without problems. She walked very very slowly and just stood and didn't want to move anymore. I put her on the sofa and I will be watching her carefully. This is so out of character for Lily. Generally, she is full of energy!

Let's hope it is just an upset tummy and nothing more. It is now 5 PM and she is still about the same. Please send happy get well wishes to my sweetie. Hopefully, she will be her "old self" in the morning!

How Much Activity Can You Put Into Seven Days

The past seven days have been busier than usual but everything went very well. We have been to the movie, UNKNOWN starring Liam Neesom, out of the area for a little shopping and again out of the area for appointment with MSM's cardiologist and a local appointment for me for a long overdue physical exam. Remember, living in the mountains means that sometimes we have to travel out of the area for some of our shopping and medical appointments.

The beautiful blossoming trees were all over the place down in the valley and it was a  fabulous sunshiny day.

One day away this past week ended with a very nice Japanese Bento Box dinner. This past Christmas time, MSM started enjoying Japanese food with me. I have liked sushi and sashimi as well as most japanese food for a long time. Unfortuneately, we do not have a quality Japanese Restarurant nearby where we live. But, this was good.

This week we also attended the evening Taize' service that takes place once a month at our little church. Since, I live so close to the church we usually walk.

During the Taize' service we had a big lightning and thunder storm. The lightning was so bright that we could see the bright flashes through the church windows. I was a little concerned about Lily being at home an frightened. And, yes, she was very upset when we returned home and needed a lot of comforting. She eventially calmed down and so did her "comforter". Both of them were sound a sleep in no time. Now, that was the end of a busy seven days!

Yes, we certainly know how to pack a lot into our days. And, that was just some of the activities.

I hope you are having a Fabulous Day.

Going To A Wedding Reception

Today, we will be going to a Wedding Reception for the grandson of My Special Man. It is a good thing that it is indoors because the weather is less than ideal for an outdoor event. I will have the opportunity to meet many, many more relatives and friends. And, that is always interesting! I am pleased with what I will be wearing. Perhaps, I will be able to post a photo of myself at a later time.

Yesterday was an enjoyable day for me because I was doing some preparation for our Easter Dinner. It has been quite a long time (maybe three years) since I have done much in the way of holiday cooking for guests.  The most fun activity was preparing everything for Baked Alaska.  I baked the sponge cake base from scratch  (how difficult can that be) and prepared the ice cream mold in a bowl and then unmolded it onto the cake base. So, now it is in the freezer just waiting to have the meringue prepared and baked just prior to serving. I really love making Baked Alaska because it is so easy and always gets a reaction of Ooohhs and Aaahhs.

I just talked with My Special Man and he wants to pickup Lily after we are home from the reception and go to his house where some of the out-of-town family will be this evening. So, what did I do? Of course, I gave Lily a bath. It is a good thing that she is such an easy and good dog. It is probably the fastest bath she has ever been given.

Lily is going to be so pretty and fluffy when she is dry.  Just, all in a days work

I must run now and get dressed.

Wishing you a Fabulous Day.

Can't Take It Any Longer

I can't take it any longer. "What!"  you say. The empty planter at my front door. I just could not resist these primroses a few days ago when I saw them at the entrance to the grocery store. They were $1.99 for each 4-inch size plant. I am sure it will be worth it with the enjoyment I will receive from their pretty faces every time I go in or out my front door. We are expecting another storm tonight so I think I should get them into the soil.

That looks so much better. I even did a little clean up, at least around the front door.

I think Lily will be happy when I can be outdoors when the weather gets warm. She loves to watch all the people walk by.  And, sometimes she even gets a biscuit from one of them!

I think that you can tell that I have my work cut-out for me with all the mess in the yard. It is the most winter mess I have had since I moved here.
Have a Good Day.

The Spring Bulbs Are Popping Up

It won't be long until those happy spots of color will be popping up around the garden. I think this is a wonderful time of the year when we see all the shrubs setting buds prior to blooming and all the bulbs starting to pop their little heads out. There is something about bulbs that is special. It could be that they seem to be the first signs of new life and change of season in the garden. I have daffodils, tulips and hyacinths out and about the garden.

As you can see, I have a lot of cleanup work in the garden following the storms. My entire property is strewn with leaves, branches and tree limbs. I think I will wait until we are finished with the storms in a few weeks. I know we have rain in the forecast for this week.
When I take photos of Lily she always looks so serious. I with I could get some that show her happy, loving expression. To me, she looks like she is thinking, get this driveway cleaned up! Yes, I am a little crazy. I am sure she couldn't care less.

I hope you are having a bright and sunny day.

Saturday Night Bath

Well, not quite. Actually, I mentioned it last week on Friday and today is Tuesday. It is just an example of how I live my days spontaneously! Finally I stopped working on the garden and computer long enough to give Lily her much needed bath. I'm surprised that the first photo before she had the bath doesn't show her looking as dirty as I thought she looked! One thing for sure, she is going to smell nice and fresh.

She has that all-knowing look of what is about to come. She truly is a good dog. She never resists and seems to trust me completely.

Before Lily came into my life, I had a darling little (7 pounds) Yorkshire Terrier for sixteen years who was named Pixie. When she had a bath she would shake the entire time and was so little that she looked like a "little wet rat", but a cute rat! Lily is just enough larger that I don't think of that when I give her a bath.

She loves to get dried-off because she also gets her back and thighs rubbed which she likes anytime.

Now the fun begins when she runs and runs around to get dry.

A clean dog is a happy dog.

Can't Live Without It

This Little Red Wagon is such a good helper. There are days when I would not be able to take care of things in my garden if I didn't have this special helper to assist me in moving things from one area to another especially bags of planting mix and yard waste.
Several years ago, I was thinking that it would be fun to have my own personalized little red wagon. So I took my shiny new wagon to the local sign maker and he painted it for me. I think he did an excellent job. The second photo shows how much it has been used. I can't live without it! Many people have wanted my little red wagon. But, I say "no way" and if your name isn't Mary, you shouldn't have it anyway. I guess I am a little protective. It's mine!
I am curious about so many things that I encounter day by day. So, it was no surprise that I wanted to know a little more about the "little red wagon". My research took me to a wonderful website (http://monkeyshinenews.blogspot.com/2006/12/history-of-radio-flyer.html) that gives a very comprehensive history of this wonderful little wagon. I hope you enjoy reading it. I think it is fun to see how things evolve through the ages.
Also, Robert Pasin has written a sweet little book called "My Little Red Wagon; Radio Flyer Memories". I noticed that it is available on amazon.com at (http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Red-Wagon-Memories/dp/0740700448). I mention these sites for no other reason than sources of interest and information.
Now, lets, go pull our doggie in our little red wagon! Lily has a puzzled look on her face when I take pictures of her. The breed tends to have "sad eyes" but they really are happy little dogs.
Have a FABULOUS day.

Pink Passion

Just a click will enlarge the photo.

How did that "little dog with pink jammies" sneak in there. I know Lily likes my garden, but come on now. I must speak with her about this, don't you think?

I really like putting these collages together with all the pretty flowers. It helps me to realize how many different pink flowers bloom in my garden each year. It kind of surprises me that there are this many. And, there probably are more.

"Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman's cheeks. It's not surprising that when giving or receiving flowers, pink blossoms are a favorite. Pink is the color of happiness and is sometimes seen as lighthearted. For women who are often overworked and overburdened, an attraction to pink may speak of a desire for the more carefree days of childhood" according to color expert, Kate Smith.

Iris Mosaic

Be sure and click the photo so you can get the total effect of the beauty of these iris. Oh, look, how did Lily get in there? She is always full of surprises. I guess this is better than when she brought a mouse into the house!

Let me tell you a little about my iris garden. Most of them were planted many years ago. The first year they bloomed profusely. After that, not so much. My property has many, many big trees and they have grown considerably since I moved here. Thus, I have a lot more shade then when I planted the iris garden. Iris really like a lot of sun. Well, I was feeling badly that my iris weren't blooming year after year. And, then a surprise of all surprises. This year they put on a show like never before. The photo has 23 different colors. They didn't all bloom. There are about 35 different iris. I hope next year will be another "banner year".

Please take note of the white iris at the right side of the photo. It is very special to me because it was given to me this year by a friend. It has been in her garden for years and we don't know the name, so I named it "Gerber Iris". It is so beautiful, tall and stately. And, she has a big plot of them at the entrance to her home. When they are in full bloom, they are breathtaking. It is the only iris in her entire garden and I have lusted after it for years, prior to her moving there. But, now I'm a "happy camper" with white iris in my garden!

Wishing you a fulfilling day.

Self Teaching How To Create A Blog

Just a click will enlarge the photo.

Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe how much time I have been at the computer trying to learn how to do this new project of having my own blog.

One thing is for sure and that is I must do a better job of organizing my photos. It will take me forever to post a photo if I don't do some work on them. Also, I would like to change my template to something that is a little more exciting and a more accurate portrayal of my personality. All of this is a little daunting, but I am usually quite tenacious. So, I guess in time I will conquer this to my satisfaction.

When the day comes that I am more comfortable with what I am doing and not spending so much time at the computer, there is one four-legged creature who will be a lot happier. Her name is Lily. She is a three year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has been with me since she was ten weeks old. And, oh, what a love! The breed is known for their endearing affection. Well, let's see if I can present you with a photo of Lily!

I did it! However, I really wanted it at the end of my post. I could not figure out how to move it down. I guess that is for another day.
