Pineapple Express Arrived

"The West Coast storm is colorfully called the Pineapple Express. That's "a river of moisture in the atmosphere that basically originates around Hawaii, and it's like a fully loaded Super Soaker that just unloads on California for a couple of days straight," said Ari Sarsalari, a meteorologist for The Weather Channel."

What an afternoon we had yesterday starting about 3 PM with heavy pour down rains. Kind of like hundreds of big buckets dumped from the ski along with loud thunder and lightning. Lily highly reacts to these weather conditions. And, there isn't much that will console her. At about 4 PM we had the loudest - longest thunder I believe that I have ever heard. The lightning seemed very close and the house vibrated with the force like I have never experienced. The heavy rains continued on about 2 hours but not so much thunder. For the most part it rained for the remainder of the day and all night.

In order to help Lily at times like this I have some prescribed medication that really helps her. In addition to her agitation she refuses to go out in the rain when it is this heavy. At bedtime I put a diaper on her and that helped. But, then she was so uncomfortable because she had to do her other business. So, about midnight I was outside with her in the heavy rain with a super size umbrella trying to give her some protection from the rain. But, of course, she had to wonder all around for the "right spot". After her success, the two of us who were very very wet took refuge in the house where she eventually settled down for a nights sleep.

Oh, how we love our animals. But, just think about how much love they give to us!

I am so fascinated with some of the animated photos on the Internet. This is one I really like. Fun!

The storm is continuing today but the heavy rains are more sporadic. However, more of the "Pineapple Express" is forecast for tomorrow and thereafter!

I hope you are having a good Weekend.

Staying On My Pathway

Last evening, I attended my group of Grief Recovery. The program is helping me and the the people are wonderful.  It is a good feeling to recognize the positive changes that I see in myself. I believe that getting my blood pressure managed is a huge part of being able to better cope. Also, I have had wonder support from my church, friends and neighbors.

Today was a beautiful sunny warm day. However, a large rain storm is predicted for the weekend. And, that is great because we really need the water.

I hope your week is going well.

During The Night

It's Raining It's Pouring
The Old Man Is Snoring

How Wonderful is that?

We are in such need of rain here in California and during the night we had a very nice downpour. Now the sky is blue and the sun is shining. What a blessing that we had some rain. Hopefully, we will get some more.

Best Wishes to you for a Great Weekend.

And Now - Were Was I

Oh yes, Stuck in a Snow Storm on a two lane roadway with my Friend.

I decided that we should just sit in the car for awhile and think, pray and plan. Tow trucks had been called but that wasn't any help for they could not get to us, remember SNOW everywhere. And, it continued to snow more and more.

By now, it was very dark outside. We sat for about 30 minutes and then I decided to try one more time to get out of the side of the road even though the truck in front of me and the one behind me had not been able to get back on the road. I concentrated very hard on accelerating just enough for traction without spinning the wheels. IT WORKED! I had to cross the middle yellow line to get enough traction and then I was able to get back in my lane. My friend was cheering me on which really helped! Their were very few cars moving about. But, there were just enough track marks in the snow for me to use. The many trees along the roadway sheltered the road somewhat from the snow. In my head I can still hear myself saying out loud - We're out! We're out!

The remainder of the trip was very slow and it continued to snow. A road trip that usually takes about 45 minutes to drive, took us about four hours. Many, many people did not get home that night. We were very tired and stressed, but, Oh, so thankful! Eventually the snow stopped but it took days for everything to get back to normal, Whatever Normal Is.

My friend and I shared many experiences together but I believe this was the most remarkable. A lot of them were just FUN, FUN, FUN. I miss her. I am blessed to have had her as my friend!

Heavy Rain Storm and Calla Lily

Yesterday was the second day in a row that we have had heavy rain storms in the afternoon while the Sun was shining brightly. I was on my way home from the grocery store when it started. It didn't last long but it was so heavy that I decided to wait until it stopped before bringing my groceries into the house. I think the photo does a good job of showing how heavy the rain was coming down.

On Mother's Day, my daughter brought me a pretty Yellow Calla Lily and it has started to bloom. I transplanted it into a nice flower pot and it is looking very healthy. Even though I do not generally wear the color yellow it is a favorite color of mine in the garden.

I hope your day is Bright and Shining.

Weather Is A Changin'

- - - - - - - - At least for the weekend.
It looks like we will be getting some more - much needed - rain. Let's hope that it is as much as the last weather system. Perhaps, even more would be nice. But, NOT to much at one time. It's a fine line between enough and too much, that could cause a lot of flooding, especially since we had a lot of summer forest fires this past year.

Of BIG INTEREST, President Obama visited California Central Valley yesterday (near where my Granddaughter lives) to discuss with the farmers/ranchers and political leaders of this area (including Boxer and Feinstein) the issues regarding the worst draught in California for fifty years. Needless, to say our agricultural areas in California are being seriously impacted with the drought.

Subsequently, the rest of the country will feel the negative impact in many financial ways. And, we all know that financial impact is only the top of the pyramid with many secondary, tertiary and more ramifications. Hopefully, the federal government will be of some assistance.

Let's hope that Mother Nature and God will hear our plea. I kind of think that God can work faster than the Government! In about a week, our community is holding a Drumming-Prayer Program at a near-by Recreational Lake area to pray "for just enough rain to end the drought".

Please join us in Happy Rain Dance and Pray for RAIN.

Weather Surprise

I woke up to a beautiful white dusting of the rooftops and gardens. How Lovely!

Take Care.

A Quick Walk In The Garden Before The Last Storm

When is this winter like weather ever going to stop? I think all of us have had enough. However, when I say that, I have to admit that I feel a little guilty thinking of all the people suffering from tornadoes, earthquakes and floods.

I took these photos last Saturday prior to the rain and snowfall. I have been so happy to have some help in the garden cleaning up lots of debris, leaves and pine needles. I found a great worker at our church and he has worked about eight hours so far and the garden is looking so much better. Two yard waste refuse boxes have been filled and taken away. It's wonderful! When weather permits he will be back to work on some of the weeds and more pruning. I hope you enjoy walking with me in the garden.

Wishing you a Fabulous Day.

Springtime ~ ~ ~ No! No! ~ ~ ~ Not More SNOW

I was just beginning to trust the weather report of only sprinkles of rain. The flowers are starting to bloom, especially the camellias. So, I put together a Spring Table piece. I love bringing flowers into the house and putting little vignettes together. Isn't this pretty?

But, look at what I saw through my dining room window when I got out of bed this morning ! ! ! Is winter ever going to be over?  I waited patiently for the White Stellata Magnolia (see center of photo) to bloom following many snow falls and finally it succeeded.

It was so beautiful a few days ago.

Have you noticed that many many blogs have  lot of photos of snow this year? It really has been a very white winter.
I hope your day is Fabulous.

Is The Doctor In

The last few days have been busy for us catching up on routine medical appointments and having various diagnostic tests. At this point, everything is looking very good, ESPECIALLY, for MSM.  In 2003 he had congenital heart valve repair along with one coronary artery bypass. All of his tests were great. Reportedly, his heart is completely healed and his cholesterol levels are great even without medication! He eats anything and everything he wants. Some things just aren't fair!  I have always had to watch my dietary intake because of familial elevated cholesterol. And, my hypertension has been misbehaving and I am having to work with medication adjustment. I recently had a kidney ultrasound and echocardiogram.  I feel confident that the test results will be within normal limits. I still have to have a bone scan.

Speaking of bones, I have reinjured my low back and have been in a lot of pain radiating down my leg. I knew I was being foolish when I did a physical activity that I should not do!  Will I ever learn?

It is so wonderful to have bright sunny and warm days. I just love it. The breeze was blowing the flags beautifully.

Our hospital has the nicest little chapel with a very pleasant stained glass mural. If you look closely, you and see a little green frog in the lower left. Our county is known for "The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County".

The blue sky and billowy clouds have been so beautiful. It is such a nice change from all the rain and snow.

One evening we had a Crockpot dinner following a busy day with medical "stuff".

I have been busy with other springtime activities but will have to bog about it later. It is time for me to go lie down for a little while with my "ice pack and pain pill"!

I hope you are enjoying these lovely springs days. And, if you are still having winter weather, spring should be on its way soon.  ;>)

Yes, it's The First Day Of Spring And It's SNOWING AGAIN

It started snowing an hour and a half ago and has been continuous. That is all I have to say!

Except - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I am ready for SPRING WEATHER ! ! !

I hope your day is Cozy.

White As Snow

This is the last photo I took with my Casio digital camera before it died. The little camera served me very well since I bought it in 2008. I must admit that I have dropped it a time or two. I guess it thought “enough is enough, I quit” and I can hardly blame it. It was a good little friend teaching me how to take photos for my blog.

The photo of the White Camellia is the first camellia to bloom in the garden this season. Sadly, it is also, the last photo I took in the garden before a snow storm started this evening about 5:30 PM.

The Big Irish Days Celebration is scheduled for tomorrow.  Unfortunately, the town folk have been preparing for months for the events that are planned. Even, our little church has been working very hard preparing for their annual Pancake Breakfast that was to start at 8:00 AM in the morning. This is a very big storm for us. We lost our power about 7:45 this evening and I am typing this post on my laptop.

From my dining room window you can see the snow as it was beginning to fall. It snowed steady for at least 3 hours.

It looks like my St. Patrick’s Celebration hat is going to stay on the mannequin this year. My Special Man brought it home for me a couple days ago just so I would be festive for the activities on Saturday even if I had to bundle up because of the cold weather.. Do I dare tell you that he has green slacks for the event? This little town really goes “all out” for their celebrations! Just take a look at these photos from last year.

These photos are from flicker taken by someone who attended last year.  The crowds were very large on a very sunny day.  It was a great celebration! The above photo is a short block from my home.

A couple months ago, I bought an inexpensive little camera in case my Casio Exilim EX-S770 did not live much longer. The new one is a Polaroid i1437 and I was able to use it for the snow pictures this afternoon. I hope to get another camera before too long.

The snow has stopped and is quite wet. So, we will have to wait and see what it looks like in the morning. Maybe, enough snow will melt and the - - - - - - Party can begin!

I hope you have a Great Weekend.

You May Remember This

These first two photos are from my post back in July 2010. My dear Internet friend from Chech Republic sent me this photo of the needlework she was working on at the time.  I am in awe of her lovely talent.

This is the link to the post   http://everydaydelight09.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-gorgeous-is-this.html

Anyway, this past November she sent me a photo of the finished dresser scarf. I wanted to share it with you because I think it is so fabulous and I wish I had the talent and patience and time to attempt some needlework like this. Isn't it beautiful?

I have made some progress on my Blue and White Ripple Afghan. Other than the color, this is like comparing "apples and oranges" with the dresser scarf!  But, I thought I would show it to you anyway. I have a long way to go and I will get there inch by inch.

The sun is shining brightly this morning and I am going to enjoy every minute of it. Especially since another rain storm is forecast for this evening and tomorrow.

These white hyacinth bulbs are trying so hard to grow and bloom. But with the sporadic days of sunshine I know they are feeling a little challenged.

Come out - come out - I know you are in there!

If you have sunshine, enjoy it. If you have rain, enjoy it. If you have snow, do your best!
