Oh - How I Miss It

Even though my daily garden hand-watering did not take place everyday, I sure miss going outdoors to the garden to do a little work or just surveying the new little signs of growth be it a new flower or new foliage. The Gardenia is already blooming nicely. Happy - happy! Last year's picture is in the header.

Since I have had more time to spend in the garden this year there have been new little plans for here and there. You know the kind of thing like adding new plants, freshening up the garden pets that have gathered too much moss - - -

(like these little guys) - - - or removing old redwood lattice that is falling apart from the wire fencing. Actually, I had just finished removing the old redwood and all of it has been hauled away. Thank goodness! But, next I was about to make some decisions about a 25 foot section of fencing that should or could be replaced.

The section is a lighter weight wire that was being pulled down by the weight of the Star Jasmine that I love for privacy and the beautiful fragrance and lush evergreen color.

In this little photo from 2011 you can see how nicely the Star Jasmine covers the lattice and also in the above photo which I took recently. The Star Jasmine that I cut down is already starting to grow back. So, when the new fencing is up - the plants will grow and cover the fence again and hopefully won't fall down again. The fence posts have already been reinforced once.

Well, for a little update - I am doing well and getting a little more mobile every day. Hoping to go home soon.

Be Happy.

Hilltop Nursery

This beautiful sight is where we went to shop for vegetable plants and some flowers to put in pots. This nursery is a small Mennonite owned business a few towns away. Last year was their first year and this year they have been able to expand significantly. But, most of their stock is limited to small size plants that are great for planting at this time of year. Everything looked fresh and healthy.

As soon as I have time I will be planting Tomatoes, Peppers and Cucumbers. As well as Petunias, Geraniums and Calibrachoa which I love for my Tipsy Pots.

Today I am taking my friend who is recovering from cancer to the hospital to have a CAT scan prior to starting her radiation therapy. Last Friday we went for her appointment with the radiology oncologist. Afterwards, we plan to go out for some lunch and spend some time visiting. We usually talk on the telephone daily but it is nice to see each other.

It is such a busy week. Tomorrow there is a visit to the opthamologist and Thursday is my Knitters and Hookers meeting!

There really is so much to do and not enough time - - - especially at my age when the body just won't and can't do as much as I want it to do in a day! And, of course, most of the work is what I lovingly call "dirty work" which means it takes me a lot of  time cleaning up to go "out in public".

Have a Fabulous Day.

Sitting In The Prunella

Look at that Prunella ground cover. It has really flourished this year. The growth is so high it is coming through the seat of the chairs. It reminds me of the lyrics of the song "Oklahoma",  "The corn is as high as an elephant's eye".

The purple flowers look so pretty.

Needless to say, I have not been able to spend very much time in the garden. But, none the less, the flowers are doing their best at continuing to give me joy with their continual bursts of color.

It looks like I interrupted this "little guy's" nap when I was taking the garden hose from the hose rack. I am sorry "little guy."

Wishing you a beautiful Summer Day and maybe even a little nap.

Sunday Morning Preparation

This morning before going to church services I prepared a fresh fruit salad to take to our weekly Sunday Brunch that we have with friends-loved ones. We are so blessed to join in these fun and nourishing events. The fruit available at the grocery store was nice and our selection included: oranges, granny smith apples, gala apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, fresh pineapple and glazed walnuts for a little garnish along with a few whole strawberries.

And a dusting of powdered sugar and - Ta Da - a colorful bowl of fruit.
This is the view from my dining room window this morning and it is bringing me great delight as I eagerly await the opening of all of the "Red Bird" azaleas that surround Rebbecca At The Well. The Sunshine is casting lovely shadows across the beautiful large rock that surround my property.

Wishing you a Bright and Sunny Day.
