The Charm Of Country Living

It is a simple way of living and one that is close to the beauty of nature.

Following another medical appointment for my friend we drove up the mountain to about 4000 feet elevation and looked around for a place to get something to eat. Since it was a Monday, some places were closed. And, to start with there aren't many places to eat.

Then I remembered Bristol's which has been in Arnold as long as I can remember and as long as I have lived in the foothills which is 21 years.  Wow, where does the time go?

We were pleased with our food and the service. They seem to get mixed reviews on social media.

Before long and there will be a cozy fire in the fireplace.

There is a strong cowboy atmosphere with lots of memorabilia to peruse.

I have always enjoyed being out and about and it was enjoyable to be out on a beautiful sunny fall day. Day by day the fall colors change and the leaves are falling and there's a little chill in the air. A weather system reportedly is on it's way and we may get some rain in a day or two. California sure needs rain!

Have a Good Day.

In And Out

The garden is always beckoning me. And, today is no different. I always have a project (or ten) that I want to work on. And, it is such beautiful weather to work in the garden. The garden is rolling along into another season and rapidly changing in colors and needs.

I have given a name to my collage - - - IN AND OUT.

It looks like the White Chrysanthemums are on their way IN AND the White Dahlias are on their way OUT.

The Bumble Bees have been very busy gathering all the pollen they can get from the dahlias. It makes me happy to see the bumble bees in my garden especially since they are in decline. I have noticed a difference in my own garden through the years.

                                            (google)

These Chrysanthemums grow over 5 feet tall. I really don't know why "so tall". A few years ago I bought them at the grocery store that had little 4 inch pots of chrysanthemums at the front that were from the local High School Horticulture Department. Boy oh boy, did I  get my monies worth? Look at all of those buds and that is just a portion of the large head of flowers on those 5 foot tall stems.

As the days get shorter I will sadly miss my hours in the garden. Usually, by this time of year I am more than ready for the end of the gardening season. But, this year has been so different with being banned from the garden for more than two months as my ankle/leg injury healed. My ankle has healed well, however, with the change in barometric pressure with the seasonal change I am reminded of the incident by some discomfort that I did not have when the weather was warmer.

I hope to soon be able to get some propane gas for my living room fireplace/heater and then my warm and cozy evenings will begin with the seasonal change.

I am doing well and Lily has adjusted to her medical treatment and seems very happy!

Take Good Care.

Awakened By Thunderous Grinding

What is that terrible super loud noise racing into my house through my open windows at 7 AM?

NO - NO - NO, beautiful tall (Cedar, I think) trees are being cut down in my neighbors yard at the property line between them and the next neighbor. I don't know why anyone would do such a radical activity. It appears as though a total of eight trees are being removed. SO SAD! My house sits higher than the neighbor so these photos were taken from my living room window. The sun is behind the trees so taking photos is a challenge! The beautiful trees are coming down one by one.

This is the top of my wire fence that I have been considering replacing so my Jasmine vines can grow and cover the fence again. I must call the Fencing Company, today.

I can hardly bare to watch these beautiful trees come down. They look very healthy and have been there for years.

I hope there is a good reason for all of this. The two houses down from me are owned by "Second Home" owners. However, the property next to me transferred ownership within the family (to daughter) earlier this year following an estate settlement after the death of the owner. Since I have been confined to the house for the past month I have not been able to visit with the new owner even though I have visited with her periodically through the years but not for a very long time. Before long I will probably have a chance to visit with her.

Just another day in the country - from my window.

Wishing you a Happy Healthy Day.

Friday At The Lake

A beautiful day to stroll with the babies!

These Canadian Geese clearly have Places to go, Things to do, and People to Meet! So, on their way they go.

They are so beautiful!

Please take some time to stroll, today.
